Job description
POSITION SUMMARY/ RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for screening and reviewing all orders for germline genetic tests. Must be able to assess the patient’s clinical history and, when necessary, recommend alternative genetic testing based on the analysis of risk, benefit and cost to the patient and/or Health System. Responsible for providing clinical consultation services and communicating results to physicians and other health professionals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
No experience required. 1-3 years of clinical or lab experience preferred. Graduate-level lab rotation and/or focus may be considered relevant experience. Master of Science in Genetic Counseling required. Certified or eligible for certification as a genetic counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC). Certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire date or eligibility. Subsequent to certification, Texas State licensure will be required as available/appropriate.
