How you’ll contribute: 
The Asset Management Group of Brighthouse Financial is responsible for the strategic and tactical asset allocation for the Company’s approximately $120 billion investment portfolio utilizing an outsourced manager model. The Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Manager will be responsible for managing an approximately $25 billion portfolio of commercial real estate related assets, including Commercial Mortgage Loans, Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities, Agricultural Loans and Real Estate Equity, as well as providing views around other commercial real estate related assets, such as REITs. This person will be an active participant in all aspects of the portfolio management process, including asset allocation, investment manager selection and oversight, understanding and managing key market risks and opportunities, reviewing and recommending investment-related decisions, and the monitoring, surveillance and reporting on portfolio holdings.

In this role, you’ll get to:

• Contribute to the development of the fundamental and relative value view of the various commercial real estate sectors, including loans, securities and funds. 
• Responsible for managing the overall risk and performance of the commercial real estate portfolio, including Commercial Mortgage Loans, Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities, Agricultural Loans and Real Estate Equity.
• Monitor, surveil and report on historical and projected credit performance of the portfolio and individual loans.
• Manage relationships with external managers including enforcing adherence to portfolio guidelines and ensuring managers act in accordance with the needs and goals of the portfolio.
• Where applicable, work with internal investments team and external managers in selecting appropriate commercial real estate-related assets for the portfolios.
• Communicate risk, return and performance to all stakeholders.

We’re looking for people who have:  

• 12+ years of experience managing commercial real estate portfolios, including commercial mortgage loans and commercial mortgage-backed securities.
• Solid credit skills, including modeling of individual loan and deal performance, and knowledge of complex structured finance structures.
• Experience managing and interacting with third party asset managers.
• Strong quantitative analysis, including extensive data experience and research skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present to senior management and other stakeholders. 
• Ability to work in a collegial environment and train/mentor junior staff members
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, Bloomberg, Trepp, Intex and/or Blackrock Aladdin.
• MBA and/or CFA preferred.
