The eight Concepts Integration Laboratories (CIL) house equipment and supplies which enable the student to practice essential clinical nursing skills in settings designed to simulate actual patient care areas within the ECU, College of Nursing. Human simulators, task masters, and manikins are used to assist the student to develop nursing judgment, skills proficiency, and positive patient safety practices.
Job Duties The College of Nursing is seeking applications for a highly motivated, full-time CIL Coordinator. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The CIL Coordinator is in everyday contact with ECU faculty, staff, and students.
- This position also has everyday contact with persons outside of ECU related to supplies, equipment, and maintenance of the labs.
- This position participates in recruitment and public relation activities of the CSON and campus as requested.
- Clinical resource for students and participates in evaluation and remediation of students as needed.
- The position coordinates and schedules use of the labs for: Special class sessions, Open lab sessions, Advanced clinical skills, Clinical skills evaluation and Student projects.
- This position keeps records related to supplies and equipment, scheduling, and use of labs. Report writing is required occasionally related to lab activities.
- This position independently sends out e-mail, forms, and memos on a daily basis related to faculty and student needs for lab equipment and supplies. Nursing knowledge is required. Understanding of medical, nursing and research terminology is required.
- Preparing lab orientation and skills manuals for students. Resources would include medical and nursing texts and dictionaries.
- Understanding of and proficiency in use of personal computers, printers, fax machines, and copiers are required. Microsoft Office applications are used daily. Work is not routinely reviewed by others and secretarial support is limited.
- Filing related to lab activities is done by subject using the employee's own system.
- This position receives and sends out lab equipment, receives and stocks lab supplies. Transport of boxes and mail from a loading dock may be required.
- Coordinates the schedules of graduate teaching assistants, graduate assistants, and undergraduate work study students to ensure adequate staffing of the labs.
- The position is involved in orientation and training of faculty and staff on lab equipment use and maintenance.
- The position also participates in research and other projects related to the CIL as requested.
Minimum Education/Experience Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of experience in the area of specialization.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation State of North Carolina Registered Nursing License
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education Three years experience as a RN in direct patient care, two years teaching experience in a pre-licensure nursing program.
License or Certification required by the Department State of North Carolina Registered Nursing License
