The Philanthropy Officer for Special Events and Corporate Giving is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a portfolio of events and elevating philanthropic support from the business community through events and grant support. Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, the successful candidate will bring a well-rounded understanding of event management, a strong ability to work collaboratively with constituents at all levels of the organization, and a strategic approach to philanthropy. The Saint Elizabeth Community event portfolio currently includes a donor recognition luncheon, golf tournament, gala/auction, awareness breakfast, and donor cultivation events throughout the year.
What will I do as a Philanthropy Officer?
- Works collaboratively with Chief Philanthropy Officer and Saint Elizabeth Community leadership to develop strategies for signature events and corporate outreach including establishing fundraising goals, donor engagement goals and solicitation strategies.
- Serves as the staff point person for signature events providing leadership and support to event chairs, and coordination and management of event committees and event volunteers to successfully achieve fundraising and donor engagement goals.
- Provides oversight and management of event planning and production including timelines, fundraising, vendor relationships, budgeting, site selection, contract management, catering, venue coordination, speaking program, audio/visual production, and more.
- Develops and manages portfolio of approximately 150 -200 sponsors and donors for each event. Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards event sponsors and donor prospects. Manages sponsorship solicitation process. Designs sponsorship solicitation materials, tracks and reports progress; provides support to leadership, staff and volunteer solicitors. Ensures proper stewardship and recognition of event gifts. Crafts all event-related gift acknowledgements.
- Manages the strategic planning, design, and execution of all collateral material and electronic communication associated with events including save-the-dates, invitations, programs, in-room signage, e-mails, and more. Ensure appropriate donor and sponsor recognition on all collateral materials.
- Utilizes Raiser's Edge database and GreaterGiving software to maintain and track accurate and complete gift information, donor and sponsorship data, registration lists, and attendee information.
- Explores, develops, and implements strategies to increase engagement of community businesses through event sponsorships, grant support and volunteerism.
- Researches, coordinates, and prepares high-quality proposals, grant applications, reports, mailings and acknowledgements required to support ongoing fundraising activities focused on increasing support and engagement from the business community.
- Assists Philanthropy Department in coordinating annual grants calendar and corresponding database tracking to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, grant applications, and funding reports.
- Serves as logistics lead for donor recognition event and Saint Elizabeth Community awareness event, coordinates with venue and manages all collateral materials.
- Supports department fundraising efforts by participating in annual fundraising efforts by identifying Major Gift and Annual Fund prospects, providing strategic insights, and participating in additional department fundraising efforts as needed.
- Manages department event, production, and communication calendar.
- Serves as department e-communication liaison working collaboratively with Philanthropy Department staff and Marketing Department to coordinate, design and execute electronic communication for all philanthropy functions. Manages platform and database for e-blasts.
Qualifications for a Philanthropy Officer?
- 3+ years demonstrated event management experience.
- 3+ years demonstrated experience with nonprofit fundraising events.
- Experience managing volunteer event committees preferred.
- Experience with corporate grants preferred. Experience with municipal grants a plus.
- Interest in all aspects of eldercare, dedication to promoting Saint Elizabeth Community's fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with staff, trustees, and volunteers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Working knowledge of GreaterGiving software or equivalent event platform preferred
- Working knowledge of Constant Contact strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Raiser's Edge 7 and NXT strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
