Over the course of 10 weeks, a select group of college and university students will join us, gaining valuable work experiences and insights into our most exciting products. Interns engage with Wizards’ beloved brands, gaining meaningful work-experience through day-to-day training, hands-on projects, executive exposure, individual development planning and mentorship. Our program runs between June 10 - August 16, 2024 .

Our Game Design Internship draws on your Magic knowledge, your curiosity & enthusiastic appetite for learning, and a deep passion to make great gameplay. You’ll collaborate with our team of exceptional designers to play and refine cards serving a broad variety of audiences!
This role is about exploration and learning, playing and listening, designing and iterating, and collaboratively improving both our Commander and more casual oriented offerings. This is primarily achieved through a combination of playing, thinking, playing, evaluating, playing, talking, playing, testing, and iterating. You don't need to be an experienced designer yet; we'll work with you to refine your natural instincts and skills as a player into an outstanding designer.
Keep up to date on card files, build decks, and test interactions between cards.
Give feedback and work with Design Leadership to improve individual card designs, deck themes and above all, achieve amazingly fun gameplay.
Serve as a contributing member of Game Design teams across many our sets.
Participate in team meetings and discussions by adding constructive, reasoned, provocative insights to the conversation.
Currently enrolled in an accredited, degree-seeking program with at least one quarter or semester left after August 2024.
Available to work full-time hours for 10 weeks at our Southport office location.
Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
1+ years of overall experience in game design/development (e.g. academic & personal projects or professional work).
A familiarity with Magic/TCG design and a demonstrable, dedicated drive for Game Design.
Self-motivated curiosity and creative thinking.
Positive, energetic, and articulate communication to improve our shared vision.
Flexible, adaptable approach with a constant thirst for knowledge.
A new perspective, a desire to learn and a commitment to make some great Magic.
