About the Role & Team
This is a professional position that requires an understanding of accounting and operating processes. Financial Accounting Analysts and Financial Reporting Analysts will develop competencies by performing structured work assignments. They use existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems and receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others. This role will be supporting the Disney Experiences Segment of The Walt Disney Company in the Licensing Controllership group.
Disney Experiences businesses include the Theme Parks & Resorts, Experiences (Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, Adventures & Expeditions, and StoryLiving by Disney), and Consumer Products (Retail, Games, Publishing, & Licensing).
The Licensing Controllership group is primarily responsible for leading the revenue / licensing accounting, rights management, analysis and reporting processes, and ensures all controls and policies around revenue recognition are in place for Consumer Products, Games and Publishing (CPGP), which is the sub-segment of Disney Experiences that merchandises the company’s franchises. CPGP engages with licensees, publishers and retailers throughout the world to design, develop, publish, promote and sell a wide variety of products based on the Company’s intellectual property. The licensing operations cover a diverse range of product categories such as toys, apparel, home décor and furnishings, accessories, health and beauty, food, footwear, consumer electronics, books, magazines and interactive media. This Financial Accounting Analyst role is a great opportunity to gain knowledge in the Licensing business and continue to develop analytical skills, while implementing efficient and effective systems and processes.
What You Will Do
Responsible for performing the day- to-day accounting and analysis functions for assigned clients
May prepare journal entries related to assigned responsibilities
Review and research accounting transactions for assigned clients
Assist with or complete Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow results, including but not limited to, Q schedules, balance sheet reconciliations, and government required forms
Responsible for month-end (if applicable), quarter-end, and year-end close for assigned clients, from project set up/maintenance, to general ledger analysis
Provide accrual guidelines to ensure expenses are recognized according to GAAP and policies
Responsible for the preparation and analysis of the periodic management reporting of financial results for assigned clients
Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting
Required Qualifications & Skills
This position requires a professional that wants to lead, is highly motivated, and a self-starter. This individual will develop professional relationships with various business partners, analyze and decipher finance/accounting data to accurately and efficiently work through the department’s results. This individual is able to identify problems and develop innovative solutions to further efforts toward continuous operational improvements. In addition, they must be well-organized, thorough, and be able to perform a variety of tasks under time pressure and deadlines. Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required
