Job Summary
Get to know the NJEDA Board Governance process and the inner-workings about how the NJEDA Board and affiliated Boards function behind the scenes . NJEDA’s Governance Department is responsible for ensuring that the NJEDA Board and affiliated Boards function properly and that Board Members and staf f have access to information needed to help guide decision-making .
The Governance Intern will support the Governance Division in its efforts to create efficiencies related to the NJEDA’s Board Governance process . The Governance Intern’s role will be to support efforts to make board materials and related documentation available in a user-friendly and streamlined fashion . This will include working in and updating v arious Excel Spreadsheets and creating and populating an internal web portal, known as Sharepoint , for access to board and related materials .
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- The Governance Intern will support the Governance Team in the cataloging of the NJEDA’s Delegations of Authority, sub-delegations of authority, and operating authority. The Governance Intern will work on the updating, streamlining various resources such as these,based in excel document, which includes formatting and coding, ensuring weblinks are accurate and live, and making improvements to the readability of the resources.
- Monitor Delegations of Authority and Board-approved memos for Quarterly Reporting to the NJEDA Board of Directors.
- Sub-Delegation Request Form Tracker. Monitor this Database/Tracker. Ensure that all hyperlinks and resource files are contained in the database, are up-to-date and properly linked.
- Assist Governance Staff with the organization and of materials on the Convene site, and with training staff on how to use Convene.
- Assist with drafting board meeting scripts, public agendas, and committee meeting summaries.
- Assist with the maintenance of contact lists for the NJEDA Board, CSIT Board, CCRC Board, Film Commission Board, including board members and staff; List is located in Sharepoint.
- Assist with the maintenance of the Executive Session spreadsheet and with follow-up with staff for outstanding responses.
- Supports board meeting management and may attend NJEDA and related board and committee meetings as necessary.
- Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned, including research on matters and process related to board governance.
- Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative, and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff, and external customers.

Required Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge and interest in public policy, public administration, project management and implementation.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to analyze data, reports, and summarizing findings.
- Experience in using Excel to create spreadsheets and perform basic analysis.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficient in grammar, spelling and editing; and foster communications with business professionals and EDA staff.
- Ability to prioritize workload, must be highly organized, detail-oriented, handle various tasks simultaneously and work independently within limited time constrains with little or no supervision.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff.
- Demonstrates respectful behavior and promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn new software packages.

Position Requirements
