General Statement of Job
The Maintenance Technician performs general corrective and preventive maintenance duties in campus buildings. Working on various types of equipment and systems including installations, operations and modifications as needed or assigned. Performs assigned task of minor carpentry, electrical and plumbing details. May assist in fire and safety areas of inspections and record keeping.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
Performs corrective and preventive repairs on various types of equipment and mechanical systems.
Dismantles equipment for servicing, repair or installation of replacement parts.
Lubricates and cleans pumps, motors, fans, machinery and other mechanical equipment.
Replaces washers, seals, packing or parts on faucets, water coolers, valves, and traps.
Performs minor plumbing repairs of clearing stoppages in sanitary or storm drainage systems using augers snake, vacuum or manual plungers. May be required to install minor plumbing in Pex, PVC or copper as needed.
Minor electrical in replacement lamps/bulbs, sockets, switches, ballasts, fuses, and receptacles in buildings or on the exterior areas of the campus.
May assist in monitoring swimming pool functions including reading gauges, graphs, meters, and control panels to ensure water quality.
Performs labor duties including demolition and installation of walls, floors or as assigned.
Cooperates and coordinates work with other departmental areas as needed.
Maintains inspection duties according to established procedures and preventative maintenance schedules including fire and safety inspections and record keeping.
Makes repairs on minor dorm needs in the areas of carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
Performs other related duties as required.
Education, Experience, and Licenses
High school graduate or GED required.
Minimum one-year experience in a form of trades maintenance, construction or related area.
Must have valid Driver’s License and ability to meet University’s insurance requirements for driving University vehicles.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Requires the ability to see, smell, hear, and speak. Position requires depth, color, and texture perception.
