Job description

The Opportunity:

The Supervisor-in-Training will work alongside management to provide leadership to the team while rotating throughout various areas of the mill for the first 6 months to a year in this role. Following their successful training and development this candidate will be placed in a permanent supervisory position.

The ideal candidate will be ready and willing to:

• Be available to work night shift, occasional holidays and weekends to rotate and learn from all areas of the facility
• Always assist in maintaining the highest standards of safety, leading by example and ensuring all employees follow policies, procedures and practices.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to reduce cost, while safely maintaining production targets.
• Actively participate in coaching, training and supporting team members to maximize performance.
• Demonstrate leadership and foster a culture of open communication with employees at all levels.
• Assist in ensuring the timely implementation of key corporate and operational initiatives.

Requirements :

• Recent college graduate with a relevant degree in Forestry, Industrial Manufacturing, Business, or related topics or a minimum of 5 years of work-related experience in managing production and/or maintenance.
• Responsible, hardworking, self-motivated, and willing to work on all shifts in all conditions.
• Good interpersonal skills and communication.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot.
• Enthusiastic, positive attitude.
• Knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process would be an asset.
• Experience and a good track record in boiler safety.
• Ability to adapt to flexible shifts to learn from all departments is essential, especially for final supervisory placement
