Job description

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) at Manhattan College seeks adjunct professors to teach courses for associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and non-credit programs. The School seeks applicants with teaching experience and research interests in the following areas

Math

• Modern Math for Organizational Leaders

Healthcare Informatics

• Foundations of Healthcare Informatics
• |Statistical Computing for Healthcare Informatics
• Fundamentals of Programming
• Clinical Information Systems
• Principles and Applications of Databases
• Data Mining and Machine Learning in Healthcare

The SCPS offers a variety of programs designed for professional learners. Our accelerated, hybrid and online, cohort-based courses provide students with flexible and convenient learning while keeping the touchstones of a personalized classroom community. We are committed to programming that serves a non-traditional student population with a particular focus on individuals seeking to advance their professional careers and fulfill their personal achievement goals.

Qualifications

Candidates should:

• Be motivated, driven, and able to provide evidence of excellent and innovative teaching
• Have a minimum of one year of teaching experience in higher education
• Be experienced in using classroom technologies and teaching in online and hybrid classrooms,
• Have experience teaching adult and/or ENL learners.

Candidates that have professional experience in their field of instruction are preferred but not required. Candidates applying for opportunities in the associate and bachelor’s degree programs must have a master’s or terminal degree. Candidates applying for opportunities in the master’s degree programs must have a doctorate degree. Candidates applying for opportunities in non-credit programs must have a bachelor’s degree unless otherwise is indicated.

Responsibilities

The SCPS faculty work under the supervision of the program director and the dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Once assigned to a course (or courses) faculty are expected to:

• Attend faculty development and onboarding sessions.
• Prepare and distribute course syllabi to students.
• Develop instructional materials (lectures, readings, assignments, exams, projects, etc.) to achieve the learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabus.
• Evaluate student performance throughout the semester and provide periodic and constructive feedback to students in a reasonable amount of time.
• Be available to students outside the classroom through email, phone, web conferencing, and face-to-face meetings.
• Promptly respond to requests for information before, during, and after the course as required by the program director and the SCPS Office of the Dean.
• Manage and provide feedback through Manhattan College’s Learning Management System (LMS).

Salary range:

Instructor $4,431.83

Assistant Professor $4,578.76

Associate Professor $4,726.94

Professor $4,875.13
