Head Golf Professional
Country Club in Harshaw, Wisconsin is looking for a Head Golf Professional.
Position Overview:
Responsible for the operation of the golf course and its overall maintenance. The responsibilities include turf grass/plant material maintenance, budget/forecasting, scheduling/maintenance of irrigation systems, pesticide applications and compliance of regulatory issues. The position will work to create an environment where staff is involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for themselves, members, guests, and the property.
General Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for golf course maintenance including turf grass/plant material maintenance.
2. Supervise and control all maintenance budget/expenses associated with payroll, supplies, chemicals, and fertilizers.
3. Interviews, hires, trains, and supervises a staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining the property, typically a maintenance staff of 5-10 employees.
Additional Functions:
1. Directs and assists the staff on the planting of new vegetation, the replacement, spraying, pruning, and trimming of trees and shrubs, the preparation of soil plant beds for annual arrangements and tending to high stress areas.
2. Maintains records and completes required reporting.
3. Order parts, supplies and equipment as needed with approval from Owner / Controller of any purchase over $300.
4. Reports expenses within 14 days with receipt of purchase.
5. Provides technical operational and safety training for employees to ensure the staff is working with OSHA club safety, and state/federal guidelines for safe working conditions.
6. Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the grounds in compliance with all local and state/federal regulations.
7. Must be able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver.
8. Develop annual operating budget and plans for maintenance and capital improvement projects:
1. Budget for chemicals, equipment repair/replacement.
2. List of projects (ie, fixing greens, tee boxes).
9. Check in weekly with owner (at minimum); be available via text, email or phone as needed.
10. Winter / Off-Season Duties:
1. Coordinates snow removal.
2. Restore/rebuild any engines that need servicing so they are in working order prior to upcoming golf season.
Requirements:
Prefer educational experience from a turf management or golf superintendent-related school.
Compensation:
$65,000.00 per year.
