JOB SUMMARY: Under direction provide on-demand assistance to students for their technology needs and technology questions that impact student success and retention. Direct students to relevant information sources at the college and beyond to promote student success. Plan and execute training and awareness events for students in various modalities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide on-demand, individualized technical assistance to all students in various modalities. This includes actively assessing student technology needs and navigating them to personalized direct points of service and encouraging end-user agency (25%)
- Support students with resolving technical issues related to course success through public-facing training and awareness events in high volume areas, including but not limited to the College libraries, student success centers, and other locations/modalities (25%)
- Directs students to relevant information at the College that include software, activities and workshops sessions that focus on student success and retention (20%)
- Assist with organization of on-site technology trainings and activities for students and faculty (10%)
- Identify common technical knowledge gaps and notify manager of potential training needs for students (15%)
- Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned (5%)
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: - Associate degree with two (2) years of direct customer service experience working in a fast-paced, public service environment.
- Spanish language skills preferred.
- Understanding of instructional computing technologies including audio/visual, Apple hardware and software, Microsoft hardware and software, and tablet computing;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of instructional computing applications including learning management systems, web-conferencing systems, online proctoring services, and Web 2.0 applications;
- Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities;
- Ability to be sensitive to patron privacy, copyright law, and intellectual freedom issues; and
- Ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with colleagues, and the general public.
- This position includes some night and weekend shifts, as scheduled.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
