Job Title: Strategic Communications Specialist

Location: Fully Remote

Position Description:

We are seeking a Strategic Communications Specialist to join our team in supporting a dynamic contract at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Operating remotely, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the brand of a prominent Federal law enforcement organization for both internal and external audiences. Your responsibilities will encompass Executive Strategic Communications, Media Training, Project Management, and Strategic Communications and Engagement.

Job Responsibilities:

As our ideal candidate, you will:

Act as a primary liaison with clients to collaboratively develop, implement, and refine media communications activities, campaigns, and strategic plans.
Provide tailored media training to Senior Field & Headquarters Leaders to enhance their communication effectiveness with external stakeholders, offering constructive feedback for improvement.
Develop and assess metrics to gauge the efficacy of communication strategies.
Create and review various communication materials, including social media content, press releases, multimedia assets, infographics, and materials for public events and conferences.
Assist in the planning and execution of press events, conferences, and special engagements.
Deliver comprehensive media appearance and public speaking training to leadership across headquarters and field locations, incorporating real-time scenarios and post-training evaluations.
Conduct Executive-level briefings to update customer leadership on project progress and performance metrics.
Conduct research to gain deeper insights into stakeholder perspectives through methodologies such as data analytics, stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and open-source research.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

4+ years of professional experience, including 2-3 years in strategic communications consulting.
Proficiency in developing strategic communications plans and campaigns, encompassing social media and news media.
Experience in training personnel for effective interactions with media entities.
Demonstrated ability in research, data gathering, and presenting results in client-ready formats.
Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
Proficiency in MS Office suite for preparing presentations and gaining stakeholder buy-in.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

Possession of a DHS Public Trust or equivalent clearance.
Strong critical thinking, writing, and communication skills.
Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in ambiguous situations.
Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.
Experience in client management within dynamic federal environments.
Familiarity with law enforcement or large federal organizations.
