School Summary

All Saints Academy was founded in 1966 as St. Paul's Episcopal Parish School under Father Gilbertson and Father Sturrup of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. The school did not adopt its current name until 1993, when the middle and upper school portions of the facility were added, extending the grades serviced to grade twelve.

Position Summary, Essential Duties, and Responsibilities

All Saints Academy seeks a compassionate, student-centered counselor to join a collaborative group of faculty and staff. The counselor should be confident and comfortable working individually as well as collaboratively with faculty, staff, and parents to support student needs. The ideal candidate should be warm, approachable, independent, a great listener, and eager to build positive relationships with students, families, and faculty. All Saints Academy’s school counselor is integral in providing support for social-emotional learning, managing the school’s advisory program, and coordinating strategies, preventative meetings, and programming that support the developmental needs of students. The candidate must be able to help students build positive social skills, gain confidence in their ability to interact with others, and learn ways to deal with problems and conflicts constructively. In addition, the candidate will support faculty, staff, and parents, concerning the academic and social-emotional concerns of their students. The school counselor actively advocates for students, helping create a safe and caring environment by identifying and addressing current student needs and concerns. Additionally, the school counselor proactively develops and initiates a well-being curriculum that supports students and faculty. While the majority of the counselor’s caseload will focus on the Middle and Upper Schools, the school counselor is responsible for providing short-term, solution-focused counseling services for K - 12th-grade students and families, as well as facilitating faculty training, group meetings, and parent education. The school counselor must be willing to be an active member of the life of the school, which will periodically include evening and weekend commitments. The school counselor must successfully manage student caseloads, social-emotional support for students, demonstrate strength in both written and oral communication and manage the school’s Advisory program. The school counselor is detail-oriented, flexible, creative, responsible, professional, and confidential.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in school counseling or counseling
• Experience working in a collaborative environment with a range of constituent groups, such as students, families, faculty, staff, and administration from diverse backgrounds
• Current licensure or certification

Preferred qualifications and experience

• Classroom teaching experience
• Independent school experience
• Development and implementation of social-emotional learning curriculum
• Experience with the American School Counselor Association National Model
• Technological proficiencies, including but not limited to Google Education Suite, databases, and student management systems

Counseling services

• Provide short-term, solution-focused counseling based on academic or behavioral concerns, or for social-emotional support of students.
• Assist students and the school with crisis intervention.
• Plan and facilitate small groups to promote the growth of positive relationships.
• Lead the Advisory program. This includes orienting faculty to the program, providing professional development for faculty, and developing detailed, grade-appropriate lessons for use during Advisory time.
• Collaborate with faculty to identify student needs and provide support, training, and resources to promote student growth and achievement.
• Provide community resources and referrals to students and families.
• Design and implement regular community-building events.
• Maintain a current referral database for mental health service providers.

School support

• Coordinate outside programming (character development workshops, diversity, equity, and inclusion workshops, and guest speakers) to enhance guidance curriculum and target special topics (e.g., anti-bullying, cyber safety, drug and alcohol use, sex education) and plan applicable follow-up activities.
• Collaborate with the Academic Skills Center to support student engagement and achievement.
• Potentially teach elective courses focused on health and wellness or psychology.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
• Support the school and its leadership.
