Job description
Our client a vertically integrated developer owner & operator of retail assets with $1BAUM seeks a Senior Property Accountant with 3 years experience Yardi expertise and high level of detail orientation to join their growing team.
The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for preparing & analyzing complex financial reports for the firm s portfolio of retail shopping centers overseeing the general ledger leading special projects and providing higher level accounting support to the collaborative team.
This is a fully onsite role based in Chino and our client provides excellent PPO for medical dental and vision 100% paid by the company.
A day in the life of the successful Senior Property Accountant includes but is not limited to:
- Utilizing advanced proficiency in Yardi software for comprehensive property accounting financial reporting and analysis
- Completing advanced level accounting transactions in preparation of financial statement packages
- Creating and posting journal entries ensuring all expenses receipts owners distributions funding requests and other transactions for the accounting period have been accurately posted
- Preparing and analyzing complex financial reports including income statements balance sheets and cash flow statements for retail commercial properties
- Adhering to Client Accounting Policies and Procedures (CAPP) to ensure internal and external reporting requirements are consistently met
- Responding to issues and requests from management teams and clients regarding various accounting issues and reports including Profit and Loss statements
- Researching open accounting issues and recognizes potential issues and/or conflicts so corrective action can intercept and minimize issues
- Building and reviewing sophisticated property budgets and forecasts property portfolios
- Participating in new property and client transitions and client audit requests
- Overseeing completion of projects including independent preparation and review of CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations purchase/sale proration lease abstract analysis property software setups and opening/closing entry generations
- Overseeing the general ledger ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation of financial transactions
- Reviewing all monthend (M/E) quarterend (Q/E) and yearend (Y/E) closes of the General Ledgers
- Collaborating in the development of budgets and forecasts for retail properties providing insights and recommendations
- Leading the monthend operating report ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Providing support during financial audits ensuring compliance and preparing necessary documentation
- Monitoring and analyzing propertyrelated expenses identifying opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency
- Working closely with crossfunctional teams including property management and leasing to ensure seamless financial operations
- Identifying and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in financial operations
Requirements
The Senior Property Accountant candidate possesses the following skills & experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- Requires advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations including the understanding of financial terms and principles to include accounting methods (cash accrual and full GAAP)
- Ability to comprehend analyze and interpret sophisticated documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills
- CPA designation is highly desirable
- Extensive experience in retail commercial real estate accounting with a focus on Yardi software and advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite Products)
- Excellent organizational analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
