The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Hampton Roads District is seeking a District Construction Engineer to provide strategic leadership and direction in the planning and delivery of the District's construction program. This position will plan, implement and monitor district construction activities to meet project development and delivery Dashboard targets. Meet goals for on-time, on-budget, quality, safety, and environmental compliance. Monitor project expenditures to minimize cost overruns. support project development and delivery targets on VDOT's Dashboard. Assess and monitor development of bid proposals, contract awards, and contract performance for highway construction projects. Intervene, moderate and resolve disputed claims filed by contractors, political units, citizens and organizations. Build relationships with local government, elected officials, non-profit and private sector groups, the media and employees to serve the public in meeting transportation needs.

Position requires a Professional Engineer license valid in Virginia or eligible for transfer to Virginia.

VDOT utilizes a market-based pay program, which has been approved by DHRM. Therefore, advertised rates of pay may or may not align with the Commonwealth pay bands.
