ABOUT THE MOCKINGBIRD SOCIETY
The Mockingbird Society (TMS) is a non-partisan advocacy organization focused on transforming foster care and ending youth homelessness. We do this by creating, supporting, and advocating for racially equitable, healthy environments that develop youth and young adults at risk of or experiencing foster care or homelessness.
POSITION SUMMARY
TMS is seeking a MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM Consultant to join our collaborative team. The MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM Consultant will contribute significantly to our program delivery and advocacy goals, with special emphasis on support for MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM implementation. The MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM Consultant will have the opportunity to work closely with foster parents, young people, lawmakers, educators, partner agencies, public systems, funders, and other key stakeholders. Additionally, with the support of the Director and team, they will oversee a fundamental shift in the way foster care is delivered in Washington State, the US, and growing international partnerships.
MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM is an innovative foster care structure that improves upon the traditional foster care experience and has been replicated statewide, nationally, and internationally. This alternative approach to foster care creates micro-communities designed to support, develop, and retain foster families. An experienced foster care provider (“Hub Home”) at the center of these micro-communities provides support to families, children and youth in 6 to 10 foster families-- emulating the structure of an extended family and creating community connections for foster youth and young people. MOCKINGBIRD FAMILY™ supports partner agencies in the U.S. and globally.
MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM maintains partnerships with agencies around the world who either implement MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM within their agency and area (Host Agencies), or those that teach others how to implement MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM (Replicating Agencies). The Consultant will be responsible for being a primary lead on at least one Host Agency partner and to be the designated supporting team member with other partners.
Under the guidance of the Director of Practice Innovation, the Consultant will: provide consultation and technical assistance to partners on MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM; support the team in managing current and new Host Agency partnerships, train, and support clients implementing MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM; provide research, analysis, summations, and development of content for MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM; actively engage in local and national presentations; work with the Director and team to oversee current and future Host Agency contracts; and develop program metrics, evaluation and quality assessment processes. The MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM Consultant will also assist the Practice Innovation team by supporting ongoing learning events, local implementation, and as needed support. The MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM Consultant will also support the Practice Innovation team in ensuring partner adherence to fidelity and data collection, being proactive in further development and improvement of current methods. The MOCKINGBIRD FAMILYTM Consultant will work with the Director and Practice Innovation team to ensure all other department/program tasks are completed as needed and have a willingness to support and engage in Mockingbird Society’s work as a whole.
