Job Summary

Provides technical interpretations of design requirements as they apply to the maintenance and operation of NSSS systems. Provides engineering recommendations and alternatives for solving operational problems involving system and component performance. Serves as the primary plant contact and is responsible for assigned NSSS systems. Develops solutions and engineering options to support safe, reliable and efficient system operation. Develops and performs tests to demonstrate that design requirements and specifications are met for modified systems. Performs work which involves conventional systems engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements. Work requires a broad knowledge of system precedents and performance as well as an extensive knowledge of principles of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.

As a fully competent system engineer in all conventional experience aspects, conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard problem solving techniques and the application of system procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Required sufficient professional experience to ensure competence as a fully trained worker.

Supervision Received

Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the scope, priorities and deadlines. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisor’s approval on proposed system/component improvements and plant operation impact assessments.

Supervisory Responsibility

May supervise or coordinate the work of multidiscipline engineers, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.
