StrideCare is a multi-specialty physician group focused on delivering comprehensive lower extremity care across Texas. Our expert doctors specialize in the treatment of foot and ankle problems, lower extremity care, wound care, vascular and vein care. Our physicians and surgeons offer multi-disciplinary treatment for common and complex conditions including diabetes, peripheral arterial disease, neuropathy, diabetic foot ulcers, venous insufficiency, and wounds.
StrideCare is headquartered in Dallas, Texas with practices across the state.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Works closely with the physician(s) to learn how to document patient visits in his or her preferred style; asks questions, as needed
- Observes active patient exams in the clinical room, takes notes and transfers notes to full text in the electronic medical software
- Enters results from physical examination and selects medical codes for procedures performed
- Reviews billing codes for accuracy and completeness
- Creates and uses text macro templates and encounter plan templates in Athena software for documentation purposes
- Creates computer-based orders for doctor to sign-off on including pharmaceutical prescriptions, referrals to other physicians, lab orders, etc.
- Completes all notes within the same day as the office visit
- Signs off on clinical notes as scribe and coordinates physician sign-off as well
- Reviews clinical notes to answer questions or assist with other office paperwork
- Amends clinical notes as necessary to assist with claim payment processes
- Amends orders to redirect them as necessary
- Adjusts templates as needed to meet evolving documentation requirements
- Reviews and becomes familiar with any clinical / documentation training materials provided
- Completes annual HIPAA and Bloodborne Pathogen prevention training as well as other safety or regulatory trainings assigned by the office manager
- Adheres to all OSHA requirements for safety and hygiene to protect patient and employee health
- Participates in medical office emergency routine when required; summons ambulance or EMS or assists other staff members as needed in case of a medical emergency
- Other duties as assigned within scope of practice
Qualifications and Education Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Previous experience with any computer database program (Preferred, not required)
- Background with previous transcription, medical office work, or anatomy terminology (Preferred, not required)
- Typing speed of at least 50 - 60 words per minute is recommended for greatest success (Preferred, not required)
- Intelligence and willingness to learn (Required)
- Excellent attendance and reliability (Required)
- Skill with grammar and spelling in the written language (Required)
