Title: Director of Information Technology
Location: Austin, TX
The Director of Information Technology (IT) is responsible for providing vision and leadership for the development, integration and implementation of all technology, analytics, and infrastructure initiatives for a non-profit, partnering closely with teams across the organization to ensure that deliverables and priorities are met in a timely manner.
As the Director of IT, you will oversee the technology operations of an organization with 90+ people. The Director of IT has oversight of the annual IT budget and a 5-person team.
You will also be responsible for all data analytics and business intelligence. The Director of IT partners with employees generating data to pull together their analytics into a business intelligence dashboards that can determine trends, create statistical discipline, inform future decision- making, and provide high level graphics that can be shared with a range of audiences.
Your role:
- Provide strategic planning and collaborative operational leadership to ensure the effective and efficient development, implementation, and maintenance of technology resources.
- Develop and execute a technology strategic business plan that supports organizational goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
- Advise senior management on strategic systems integration in support of organizational goals and objectives. Promote a collaborative approach to utilizing technology to help achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Oversee information security functions and policies related to data security in both hardware and software venues, including HIPAA compliance where applicable.
- Lead the IT Governance process by working with executive management and providing relevant information so that appropriate decisions can be made.
- Responsible for the data analytics and business intelligence for the foundation.
- Oversee the DevOps function and be proficient in the latest development platforms.
- This role supports the foundation s HIPAA Security Officer by performing day to day duties that have been delegated to them.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure to support organizational business needs.
- Oversee the Project Management Office (PMO) and manage the Project Portfolio for the entire foundation.
- Remain current on information technology trends and issues, including those related to cybersecurity.
- Oversee enhancements to existing technologies, as well as the implementation of new applications to meet organizational needs.
- Analyze user information requirements by conferring with users and recommend and develop computer-based business solutions.
- Oversee the development and management of technology policies and procedures. Oversee preparation and maintenance of technical specifications and related documentation to secure procedures and prevent system failure.
- Lead efforts to diagnose and resolve telecommunications issues, including phone systems, internet, Wi-Fi, and conferencing tools, to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted communication.
- Research and make recommendations on software purchases. Negotiate with vendors on behalf of the foundation to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Oversee the Service Desk function and be proficient in IT Service Management (ITIL) philosophies.
- Forecast, prepare, and manage the organizational technology and facilities budget in support of organizational priorities.
- Manage the upkeep of technology equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards.
- Inspect buildings structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
- Partner with building management in the control of building use activities like parking space allocation, waste disposal, building security, maintenance, office assets, etc.
- Serve as a liaison with building management on issues of facilities requests, including maintenance, repairs, access badges, garage, elevator, HVAC, janitorial services, and general building operations.
What you ve got:
- Bachelor s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education required.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible information technology leadership experience, including experience aligning business processes with technology to create organizational efficiencies.
- Hands on leadership experience across all of IT including Security, IT Infrastructure, Service Management Support, DevOps, Project Management, and Vendor Management.
- Must have substantial exposure to a variety of hardware platforms and enterprise software applications, and considerable knowledge of business processes, management, and budgeting.
- Demonstrated success in project management and excellent understanding of project management principles.
- Advanced level knowledge of personal computers and all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Advanced level of proficiency in the support of various computer applications.
- Willingness and ability to travel to multiple locations within Central Texas, including some nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master s degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Information Systems.
- Certification in Project Management (PMP) and IT Service Management (ITIL).
- Minimum of 15 years of information technology leadership experience, with at least two of those years in an IT Director role.
- Information technology leadership experience in a health-related or non-profit organization.
- Experience with HIPAA, privacy, and security compliance.
