Job description

The Department of Foundations and Leadership in Duquesne University's School of Education has an opportunity to fill a non-tenure track full-time professor position in special education at the Clinical Assistant Professor level.

The primary teaching responsibilities attached to the position are in required courses in the general area of undergraduate/graduate level special education, with an emphasis on undergraduate inclusive practice and graduate courses special education certification.

Program work, such as data collection for accreditation, program certification reports, and PDE compliance efforts will be an expected part of the work of this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in special education by 8/1/2024.

Preferred Qualifications :

Expertise in areas such as high incidence disabilities, learning disabilities, emotional and behavior disorders, Individualized Education Plans, assessment, curricular and instructional support in inclusive settings, and/or early intervention is preferred.

Additional desirable qualities are: K-12 public school teaching experience, an active special education teaching certification, experience supervising teacher candidates in the field, and higher education teaching experience.


Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions.
