Job Description General Purpose of Job :
The Endoscopy technician provides smooth work flow in the department through effective communication, equipment setup and disinfection of endoscopes to facilitate procedures to occur in a clean, safe, and timely manner.
Essential Duties :
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Demonstrates ICARE values when interacting with all persons within the Hospital environment and community.
- Prepares instruments and rooms for patient procedures.
- Inventories and replenishes supplies.
- Ensures equipment is in safe working condition.
- Assists with moving equipment to other work areas in the Hospital (x-ray, OR).
- Answers call lights for room turnover.
- Delivers and obtains items from other departments.
- Maintains Hospital standards by participating in-services, committees, etc.
- Assists RN with patients, when appropriate.
- Cleans, disinfects and/or sterilizes equipment according to department policy.
- Participates in quality improvement activities; assists in maintaining compliance with Joint Commission and other internal and external regulatory standards.
- Assists with orientation of new caregivers.
- Performs other duties assigned.
- Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System's Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve.
- Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures.
- Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information and maintains and protects patients' rights under the HIPAA Privacy Standards.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
• Interpersonal skills to appropriately communicate with patients, families, and other hospital Associates.
• Preferred - Skilled in utilizing a variety of endoscopy equipment.
