Director, Software Engineering Quality Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Juniper Networks is a leading telecommunications equipment vendor building high-performance network products for service providers, enterprises, data centers, campus and metro customers. Juniper products like MX-Series, QFX-Series, EX-Series, ACX-Series and AI driven control points are used to perform complex network functions in diverse customer networks.
The software engineering group at Juniper Networks is responsible to design, develop, build, qualify and release software and networking products. The software engineering group comprises of highly skilled professionals who are responsible in delivering production grade quality release and products through agile and adaptive engineering methodologies.
The role of Director, Software Engineering Quality plays a critical role in leading and managing the team in delivery of production grade quality SW releases pivoting across different market segments. This role entails exemplary SW Release Management skills and leadership to meet business objectives around a Quality Release. As a Quality Gate Keeper, he/she would be responsible for planning and strategizing JUNOS releases in collaboration with cross-functional teams involving software development, software testing, product management and sales-service engineering.
Responsibilities: - Strategize in driving timely release delivery meeting the production grade quality metrics.
- Being in a leadership role, strategize the release delivery with thorough planning across product portfolios.
- Implement necessary checkpoints at every milestone without compromising the quality.
- Manage risk and resolve challenges impacting the release scope, quality, and schedule
- Influence critical decisions in alignment with release OKRs.
- Review and provide assessment to enable decisions for release blockers.
- Identify soft areas at every milestone of release delivery and recommend mitigation plan.
- Identify and escalate any risks identified during the release delivery.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Work in close liaison with the engineering and business units to gather requirements and build release calendar of necessary components.
- Negotiate and manage release activities across different teams
- Consolidation and reporting of project deliverables on preset regular intervals.
- Should be able to gather and consolidate the release metrics through use or building appropriate tools and/or dashboards.
- Report the progress and deliverables at regular intervals.
- Identify and escalate any risk identified during the execution.
- Communicate crucial release plans and changes.
- Guide the team in building release matrix and supporting various market-use-case.
- Being enabler, align the team on the release and business objectives.
- Keep the team informed on release roadmaps, market use-cases and quality metrics.
- Hire talented group of professionals to bring in the right mix in the team.
- Drive improvement for agility and comprehensive release delivery.
- Reduce manual toil by making and recommending process changes as necessary.
- Streamline release process as applicable.
Experience - B.S or M.S in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 20+ years of experience in networking industry including experience in managing software releases and customer experience
- The candidate must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong knowledge of networking software life cycle and products
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Experience in release management tools
NOTE: Compensation package, job title and grade will be depended on the candidate's relevant work experience, interview assessments and location
Minimum Salary: $207,200.00
Maximum Salary:$297,850.00
The pay range for this position is expected to be between $207,200.00 and $297,850.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
