Position Description: This position is responsible for post award administration, compliance and fiscal management of grants and contracts awarded from federal, state and local government and private funding agencies. Applies specialized knowledge and interprets rules, regulations, procedures and policies from funding agencies and combines those with university policies. Must have excellent customer service skills as well as independent judgement and discretion in the management of grants and contracts working with funding agency personnel and University and faculty personnel. Also, oversee the distribution, collection and analysis of faculty and staff effort reports. Examples of duties include reviewing, interpreting funding documents and campus policies and procedures; completing monthly account reconciliations and providing monthly reports to faculty; researching, interpreting and applying appropriate funding agency regulations and federal regulations as required by each award; informing and working with project personnel to ensure regulatory compliance, including the fiscal management of grants/contracts; review and approve disbursements to ensure conformity with funding agency and University policies and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Reconcile sponsored program accounts in BA on a monthly basis to ensure agreement with PeopleSoft Financials records.
- All reconciliations will be completed and uploaded to Onbase no later that 45 days after the close of the month.
- Perform revenue and expenditure analyses, closeouts of assigned grants and other fiscal reporting duties.
- Analyze grant billings and collections, revenue and expense recognition, data integrity of grant transactions for fiscal reporting/compliance.
- Management of the effort reporting process. Includes approving format, notification & training to faculty and staff of reporting requirements, collection, analysis, data entry & filing and follow up and tracking.
- Provide customer service with respect to grant operations and compliance. Provide requested grant related information and reports to internal/external customers in an accurate and timely manner.
- Work directly with faculty on both Clinical Trial (Grants) and Intra- and Extra-mural grants to ensure reconciliation and avoid deficits.
- Work collaboratively with other department of surgery staff regarding billing, grants, and reconciliations.
