Legrand  has an exciting opportunity for a  Quality Assurance Technician to join the  Kenall Team in  Kenosha, WI . Kenall is a manufacturer of lighting solutions for transportation, healthcare, food processing, cleanroom, and correctional lighting markets. The quality assurance technician position is primarily responsible for ensuring that quality standards, processes, and procedures are adhered to throughout the production process: metal fabrication, painting, surface mount technology (SMT), and assembly. This position reports to the production quality manager and is an on-site, full time, position.

 

What Will You Do?

· Interprets engineering drawings and schematic diagrams and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality or reliability standards

· Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability

· Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for a variety of qualities such as cosmetic, dimensions, performance, and mechanical or electrical characteristics. Records and evaluates data. Documents performance to existing standards.

· Performs and or controls the calibration of test equipment, as assigned

· Performs in process audits to verify process control and assist in validation of procedural or material deviations

· Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management

· Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities

· Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality activities interdepartmentally. Submits ideas for process improvements into project tracking system.

· Participates in Corrective action (CA), Preventive action (PA) and Continuous improvement (CI) activities

· Inspect incoming raw materials as directed. Work with warehouse and purchasing to coordinate disposition of substandard materials

· Upholds quality standards to conform to ISO 9001 policies and procedures

· Upholds safety policy and procedure

· Perform various work assignments in support of department or plant projects

· Provides backup, as needed, to QA personnel responsible for various QA functions

Education and Experience:

· Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school

· Or 2-5 years of relevant experience and/or training

· Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Competency / Skill Requirements:

· Experience with an ERP system

· Basic math skills, add, subtract, multiply, divide the use of fractions, decimals, percent, ratios draw and interpret charts and graphs.

· Ability to use small gauges – micrometer, caliper, pin gauges, and visual inspection instruments

· Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

· Blueprint reading

· Must be able to read, write, and understand English

· Ability to organize data and present it in a meaningful manner

· Spanish speaking is a plus

· Some experience in metal fabrication is a plus

· Must work as part of a cross-functional team and independently

· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion
