We are currently seeking a Senior Cloud Database Engineer to contribute to the growth and success of both our company and technology organization. As part of our Technical Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in building a world-class DevOps culture, surrounded by cutting-edge technology and a supportive engineering community.

What You'll Be Doing:

Designing, building, and evolving our database infrastructure across production and non-production environments, strategically utilizing automation for efficiency.
Developing and enhancing our code pipelines, particularly focusing on data migrations and automation to facilitate agile software development.
Collaborating seamlessly with engineers from various technology teams on complex issues related to functionality, scaling, and performance.
Leading the administration and operation of our relational cloud-based databases, including major projects such as migrations, upgrades, and high-availability implementations.
Driving training sessions and sharing best practices with technology teams to enhance the overall quality of database queries and performance.
Responding adeptly to emergency production incidents, troubleshooting effectively, and collaborating with security and engineering teams to ensure data privacy standards are met.
Absorbing and disseminating knowledge efficiently, contributing to documentation, and promoting a strong level of quality and velocity in your work.

What You Bring to the Role:

6+ years of experience building and maintaining highly available cloud-based relational database infrastructure, with a focus on AWS and expertise in RDS Aurora MySQL and RDS Aurora Postgres.
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
Solid experience in MySQL and Postgres transactional management, indexing strategies, maintenance, backup, recovery models, and SQL query performance tuning.
Familiarity with database security, data privacy regulations, and SOX compliance requirements.
Expertise in automating repeatable processes using script languages such as Bash, along with experience with Git and GitHub workflows.
Experience working with remote-first teams, utilizing tools such as Slack and Google Workspace.

Bonus Knowledge:

Kubernetes, Ruby on Rails, Elixir, Kafka, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, ElastiCache Redis.
