Personalis, Inc. is a leader in advanced cancer genomics for enabling the next generation of precision cancer therapies and diagnostics. The Personalis NeXT Platform® is designed to adapt to the complex and evolving understanding of cancer, providing its biopharmaceutical customers and clinicians with information on all of the approximately 20,000 human genes, together with the immune system, from a single tissue sample. In population sequencing, Personalis operates one of the largest sequencing operations globally and is currently the sole sequencing provider to Veterans Affairs' Million Veteran Program. To enable cancer and population sequencing, Personalis' Clinical Laboratorywas built with a focus on clinical accuracy, quality, big data, scale and efficiency. The laboratory is GxP-aligned as well as Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988-certified and College of American Pathologists-accredited.
Summary:
As part of Personalis’ IT team you will support the HPC infrastructure both on-prem, in our server room and colocation data center, as well as in the cloud. Day-to-Day operations will include supporting end-users with issues using the cluster, optimizing batch job submissions, getting a full understanding of workflows and pipelines, and finding how best to optimize. You will also manage vendor relationships as it pertains to hardware, cloud, and managed support services.
Responsibilities:
● Specifying, procuring, installing, monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading HPC compute and GPU nodes, high performance cluster storage, and cluster-related network equipment associated with the HPC environment.
● Ensure 24/7 operation of highly available customer-facing and internal server environments at multiple data centers
● Working with clustered computing systems including clustered and parallel file systems.
● Design, install, and maintain large scale Linux compute clusters and commercial supercomputing systems
● Provide primary support/escalation point for critical outages and issues in relation to data storage for our primary data centers.
● Implement complex projects and time-sensitive tasks under minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor in Computer Science, equivalent degree or extensive experience is preferred
● 5 to 8 years experience in Linux system administration
● Proven ability to design, install, and maintain large scale Linux compute clusters and commercial supercomputing systems
● Strong customer service skills, teaming skills, and the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team
● Broad based technical knowledge spanning all areas of IT operations and service delivery
● Extensive experience with CentOS, VMware, Ansible, batch queue processing
● Thorough understanding of NFS, Samba, file systems and volumes, experience with Dell EMC Isilon is a plus
● Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Perl, BASH, python, etc.)
● Can lift over 50lbs
The hiring range for this position is $155,000 to $195,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
