Cupertino, CA | United States
Job description
At Apple, we work every single day to craft products that enrich people’s lives! Do you love working on challenges that no one has solved yet? As a member of our dynamic group, you will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape upcoming products that will delight and inspire millions of Apple’s customers every day!
Our RF Systems Engineering team is looking for a passionate, self-motivated individual to work on overall system performance of multi-radio coexistence for various wireless technologies (Cellular, Wi-Fi, BT, GPS, NFC, etc.).
Key Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with two or more Cellular, GPS, Bluetooth / Thread, Wi-Fi, NFC, UWB radios; or one radio with both conducted and radiated experience
- Hands-on experience in system level debug, optimization and mitigation strategies on at least one of: conducted, radiated multi-radio coexistence, radiated emission or radiated desense
- Experience of wireless architecture design for simultaneous multi-radio operation requiring filtering, linearity requirements, and mitigation strategies
- Demonstrated knowledge of RF hardware and system design considerations of system-level grounding, shielding, isolation, and electromagnetic interference mitigation
- Proven understanding on RF link budget, Rx gain line-up, Rx AGC operation and optimization techniques in the presence of different jammer conditions
- Hands-on experience in system level debug and making experimental modifications to intricate hardware on small form factor consumer electronics including wearables, phones, and pads
- Excellent understanding of RF component characteristic and have experience using lab equipment including spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope, and/or packet sniffer
- Knowledge of MAC/PHY and throughput performance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
Description
You will be responsible for wireless systems aspects of wireless multi-radio coexistence performance in consumer products, including:
- Performing feasibility investigation on new technologies, RF features, test methodologies, components, strategies and processes working with cross-functional partners, component vendors and technology suppliers
- Proposing design and process changes for sophisticated multi-radio coexistence issues considering trade-offs and implementation constraints
- Collaborating on developing system mitigations that optimizes product performance across hardware, firmware, software and algorithms
- Defining test plans and methodologies to meet multi-radio coexistence performance requirements aligned cross-functionally
- Defining sophisticated experiments using modified development hardware, experimental setups, circuit and system-level simulations to understand risk areas and root cause issues
- Translating system level requirements to sub-system, module, component and chipset level requirements working with chipset and system partners
- Working closely with RF hardware engineers and RF test engineers, tracking validation progress, bringing insight into data, and presenting to senior management
- Influencing multi-radio coexistence product integration decisions
