Under close supervision, assists in the fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of mechanical machines, equipment, and tools. Inspects that all equipment is in accordance with the quality and safety standards. Learning role with 1 to 2 years of experience.
Enhance product and service reliability throughout the product life cycle spanning the distribution channel from supplier to end user. Primary function of the position is Product Development and Applications responsibility and support for:
Conducts and coordinates product specification and drawings development and approval, including suppliers/sub-suppliers’ levels.
- Support to Quality Engineer for product quality improvements.
- Support to develop suppliers when required, verify, and develop product specifications, generate drawings requirements for supplier’s product and manufacturing processes.
- Interact with cross functional teams in support of the New Product Development process, and applicable APQP.
- Manage customer product portals/database input data and maintenance (IMDS, PPAP)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist suppliers for understanding and implementing Company’s specifications and engineering change control, including manufacturing processes specifications [ e.g. metallic raw-materials, elastomeric/plastic raw-materials, fastening elements, forging, heat treatment, machining, assembly].
- To become the Engineering department liaison for new product development initiatives. Actively participate in product design reviews, Advanced Quality Planning, design, and process FMEA’s, mistake proofing and other new product development activities.
- Responsible for Engineering Change Control, process improvement, and product improvement. Including BOM/ERP data creation, input, and maintenance [ e.g. SYSPRO].
- Coordinates the development and maintenance of internal technical specifications and testing methods commensurate with tolerance sensitivities and part complexity.
- Coordinates the development and maintenance of supplier(s) technical specifications and testing methods commensurate with tolerance sensitivities and part complexity, including drawings’ revision and approval.
- Support for product/process reviews related to warranty claims/customer complaints, including product application(s) requirements and related product specifications.
- Supports all elements of the supplier quality system including new supplier qualification, supplier re-evaluation, non-conforming material containment, root cause analysis (NCMR) and other corrective and preventive initiatives.
- Assist trend analysis and establish continuing manufacturing and quality metrics
TRAINING and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience
- Current or prior ASQ CQE and/or CSSGB certification desired
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Manufacturing, Quality or Engineering preferred.
- Experience in automotive supply chain preferred.
