Role:
The training coordinator is accountable for fostering a culture and building systems that equip employees with knowledge and skills that help them achieve their maximum potential and upholds Lubrizol’s standards of safety and operational excellence.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead the continued development and maintenance of the operator training process.
- Maintain training records and ensure accuracy of the training SharePoint system.
- Develop competency checks for all skillsets in the department.
- Understand the general concepts of ISO 9001 & PSM, the department quality & safety goals, and how operator interaction with the process impacts quality & safety performance.
- Ensure training programs and documentation follow best practices as outlined in the ISO 9001 standard.
- Train and certify on-the-job trainers and mentors.
- Assist with the training of operators in the Polymer Dispersions department on their respective roles. These roles include material handlers, bulk unloaders, and control room operators. The accountabilities and competencies for these roles are listed in their respective job descriptions and training plans.
- Develop and enhance training programs to address knowledge gaps.
- Organize and update training materials and aids.
- Facilitate and/or conduct onboarding and training for new operators.
- Track progress and participate in all milestone check-ins during the training process.
- Organize and track refresher training and job recertification.
- Conduct hands-on training where needed.
- Develop and maintain a cross training program, where applicable.
- Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are used in training and update/create SOPs, as needed, based on trainer feedback.
- Be a leader in performing tasks safely and observing Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Requirements:
- High School diploma from an accredited school or GED.
- > 2 years’ experience as a trainer in a Chemical Operator role
- High performer as a Chemical Operator
- Basic computer skills are required e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
- Proficiency in SAP transactions related to production
- Passion for teaching and coaching others
- Good planning, organization, and leadership skills.
- Proven self-starter who can work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with a wide variety of plant functions.
Considered a Plus
- Supervisory experience in a production environment
- Advanced computer skills are a plus e.g., Excel, SharePoint
Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
