Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill four part-time (10-24 hours per week during the academic year,then a maximum of 40 hours per week during an academic break) Student Technical Assistant positions for the Department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology (EMT) at Oregon State University (OSU) in the Endophyte Service Laboratory (
Only students that anticipate being able to work during summer 2024 should apply. Up to 40 hours per week of work in the summer is expected but will be dependent upon sample volume in the laboratory; thus, 40 hours per week are not guaranteed. Personnel will perform routine to complex technical or specialized tasks in support of service work for the Endophyte Service Laboratory which may include laboratory chemical extractions, data collection, or interpretive analysis.
Position Duties
Student will perform routine laboratory duties under an established quality assurance system for theEndophyte Service Laboratory.
50% – Carrying out solvent extraction assays in plant/feed materials for assessment ofmycotoxin quantitation by HPLCfluorescence following standard operating procedures
20% - Lab maintenance (e.g. washing dishes, stocking consumables, and prepping solutions),sample storage and organization and other related work
15% – Processing/summary of data
10% - Grinding of plant samples
5% - Log-in of samples
