About this Role
JOB TITLE: Sr. Structural Engineer, P.E.
NorthStar Energy Services is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Structural Engineer to join the Professional Engineering Consulting team. The successful candidate will support an experienced team of designers and professional engineers who specialize in Energy Projects.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Structural Engineer for this position will be responsible for the development of structural design parameters and independently perform engineering analysis, calculations, and code interpretations as it pertains to the design of Energy Facilities.
What You'll Do
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ENGINEERING
Steel structural analysis and design of equipment skids, platforms, pipe, and cable tray racks.
Concrete structures including retaining walls and deep and shallow foundations for heavy loads, lightly loaded, and rotating equipment and piping arrangements including but not limited to, pumps, electrical stands, electrical buildings, rotating equipment, process equipment (separators, meter skids, etc.), manifold piping, and tanks.
Demolition Plans, Rebar schedules, material take-off, and structural bill-of-materials
DELIVERABLE/PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Coordinate and communicate project-specific Structural deliverables with team members of all disciplines.
Research, review, and design integration of Company Standards, Municipality Requirements, and Regulatory Codes as it pertains to project deliverables.
Review of site-specific geotechnical reports for purposes of site development and foundation design.
Perform independent QA/QC of drawing deliverables.
Review other discipline deliverables to ensure Structural designs are properly executed and align with project objectives.
Perform field related work to obtain design pertinent information as needed.
Review and respond to project RFI’s throughout project-life.
Review of detailed shop fabrication drawings or other third-party vendor drawings to ensure compatibility with intended Structural design.

QUALIFICATIONS:
GENERAL
US citizen or Permanent Resident
Select candidates will be required to participate in an in-person technical interview .
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Extreme attention to detail, process orientation, and relentless focus on accuracy with a sense of urgency towards project objectives.
Strong work ethic and ability to establish priorities among drawing deliverables.
Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to work independently or with engineering and design teams of other disciplines.
Ability to react promptly and efficiently shift priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written as well as presentation skills
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural Engineering.
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (P.E.), licensed in the State of Texas
Minimum 5+ years of experience in the midstream energy or petrochemical sector.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in the following software/programs:
Microsoft Office Suite
SAP, SAFE, and L-Pile Structural Programs
Familiarity and experience in implementing the following codes/standards:
ACI 318, ASCE 7
OSHA
AISC
IBC
Preferred:
Experience in utilizing the following software/programs:
Plant 3D Structure, CADWorx
Construction and field experience
Familiarity and experience in implementing the following codes/standards:
NFPA 30, API 650, API 653, API RP 2350
Title 49 CFR Parts 190-199, 40 CFR 112, 40 CFR 264
ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8
