SUMMARY The Director of Information Technology will report to the CFO. This individual will also have strong organizational ties to the General Manager. As a key member of the Management team, the Director will bring a balance of strategic capabilities, demonstrated "roll up their sleeves" skills and be comfortable understanding and discussing the details appropriate for the Management team and levels throughout the ATC Drivetrain global organization. The Director must be comfortable with implementing and operating ERP/business applications and have an appreciation for market facing technology as well as the infrastructure side of IT.
The Director will deliver IT and selected projects and drive the overall effort to continuously improve IT operations. He/she will work closely with the CFO to establish the overall goals and policies of the IT department and implementation of those goals and policies. The ability to deliver projects on time, on budget and with appropriate scope will be critical.
The Director will work closely with other members of the Management team to analyze the needs of all departments and establish priorities for developing new and/or modifying ATC Drivetrain's information processing systems. He/she will direct the internal Technology team and manage vendors/VARS as necessary to ensure ATC Drivetrain's infrastructure is adequate to support the mission and growth of the company. He/she will make sure that all necessary cybersecurity requirements are met and that all data are secure. Furthermore he/she will formulate and implement contingency plans.
One of the overall responsibilities of the Director is to ensure that day-to-day technology including networks, servers, data center, computer systems, business applications and financial systems - work smoothly. The Director will be responsible for developing the annual department budget and managing to it. This individual will also work closely with the Management team to ensure a collaborative, inviting and inclusive work environment.
The Director is responsible to establish a qualified and responsive IT organization with personnel that operate as a team regardless of location. The Director will maintain a core set of internal IT managers and employees that will define and execute an appropriate sourcing strategy for systems and services. The organization’s initial sourcing framework includes maintaining key relationships with vendors which provide IT commodity services, technical infrastructure implementation services, and custom application development.
The Director must be able to envision and clearly articulate IT's role in enabling and driving innovation, competitive differentiation, customer loyalty and efficiency for ATC Drivetrain. Communication and interpersonal skills are essential including the capacity to communicate the case for IT investments and alternatives in the language of ATC; the ability to shape and manage expectations of IT at all levels of the organization; and a facility in building effective relationships at all levels of the organization i.e. corporate officers, functional Directors, business partners, Value Stream Leaders, floor employees, VARS and suppliers.
Identifies and communicates suggestions for work improvements. Uses technical/analytical abilities to assure existing work practices are the most efficient and cost effective possible. Performs root-cause analysis and implements viable, permanent solutions to problems. Works with both internal and external customers to develop solutions which meet company-wide needs and objectives. Applies a sense of urgency to resolve problems or create opportunities that will increase productivity and create value. Shares best practices with other employees across the business.
Builds and sustains honest relationships with the IT staff. Manages department by interaction and clear communication. Listens to understand input, feedback and concerns of his/her employees. Responds promptly to questions and concerns of employees. Promotes spirit of cooperation and teamwork within his/her department. Coaches, promotes and follows the basics of a lean philosophy such as 5S, value stream mapping, Heijunka box, functional flow, safety etc. for the entire organization.
Coordinates with the executive team to identify the key performance indicators and service levels, establishes the appropriate measurement, collection and reporting frameworks for IT services and support. Responsible for implementing the appropriate corrective actions (i.e., people, process, technology, etc.) to meet agreed upon service levels.
Must be able to read and understand English.
Scope of Role As head of the IT organization, the Director has the authority for and is accountable for all of ATC's Information Technology. These responsibilities fall into the following categories:
- Enterprise-wide concerns – including business processes and workflows, security and privacy, risk management (including business continuity and compliance) and quality improvement. The Director sets policies in collaboration with other executives as appropriate and delivers necessary tools and systems.
- Business applications – the Director must apply an architectural knowledge of applications and must show expertise with the mission-critical applications, and create and continually update a strategic IT capabilities roadmap, ensuring the support of both organic growth and growth through additional acquisitions, while delegating day-to-day responsibilities to direct reports. Application architecture must support:
- Customer Service Systems, Sales, Portals, Customer Relationship and related processes.
- Plant floor system and operations.
- Back-office accounting and financial reporting and analysis.
- Human resources.
- Engineering infrastructure; including servers and networks.
- Core IT concerns – including infrastructure, architecture, application development/configuration and maintenance, integration and data integrity.
- Financial Management – Responsible for the development and management of capital and operating expenses; including information technology contract maintenance and compliance.
- Information Security, Risk Management and Disaster Recovery – Responsible for the protection of ATC’s Information stored within the computing and communication resources as well as the implementation and monitoring of the policies and practices, requirements, standards, notices of decisions (NODs), etc. derived from or created in support of these areas.
The Director will provide executive level leadership of the IT department to ensure efficient, cost-effective and transparent operations, including; benchmarking costs against commercial service providers. The Director should apply best practices to IT project management, such as prototyping, tracking and post-implementation auditing. In major IT capital initiatives, the Director or a designee is expected to partner with various business unit sponsors to establish business cases, and to share ownership and accountability for projects and their associated outcomes.
Continual assessment and improvement of ATC Drivetrain’s IT organization, management, skills and use of augmentation or other services. The Director oversees the IT department's formal leadership development activities, working with HR to identify candidates for leadership tracks and succession planning, and to establish a curriculum that emphasizes business, project and people skills. .
Responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of standard operating procedures within IT and in support of the business. Key operating principles include: System change management, Incident/Problem/Security, Disaster Recovery along with software development and maintenance..
Responsible and accountable for selecting, approving and managing all major procured IT products and services. The Director is responsible for all major IT contracts entered into by ATC Drivetrain (with advice and consent from other members of senior management).
Likewise, strong leadership and management skills are critically important—including the capacity for motivating IT employees; cultivating people skills (including the ability to sense and empathize with employee concerns); coaching, teaching and mentoring capabilities; a track record of hiring, developing and retaining critical talent and of building an effective Management team.

Key Responsibilities - Set technology objectives for the department, manage resources (internal and external) and execute agreed-upon initiatives. Delivers all IT/Technology projects and activities on-time, on-scope, and within budget.
- Provide technical and process oversight/assistance to a variety of IT projects and support business development using technology.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, deliver established service levels, decrease turnaround times, manage change control, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality ATC products and services as well as seamless customer service.
- Provide leadership and maintain focus in support of ATCs organization, culture and vision to assure delivery of key business objectives, including continually assessing human capital, hiring, coaching, developing and assigning employees, as needed, to build a highly effective IT team in line with ATCs organizational objectives.
- Provide a collaborative work approach promoting cooperation among all departments to achieve effective and efficient delivery of IT services.
- Research, identify and implement innovative best practices and technologies.
- Serves as the principal negotiator of agreements for technology resources.
- Provides business continuity capabilities and planning for disaster recovery.
- Ensures security and confidentiality of information and technology assets.
- Transition Services and Merger Integration are a plus.
The Person - Possess 15+ years of technology experience, with experience in infrastructure and applications development, complemented by demonstrated business knowledge.
- 5-7 years of experience managing technology professionals.
- Undergraduate degree in business, computer science or engineering.
- The successful candidate will be an experienced, strategic and energetic technology professional. Experience working in a growing, dynamic environment is especially important to being a good cultural fit for this role.
- Possesses strong project management and leadership skills with the ability to create consensus and attain goals. Proven ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Demonstrated history supporting plant floor operations of business process knowledge of Sales, General and Administrative areas.
- Experience relevant to ATC Drivetrain’s industry or related industries; including re-manufacturing, automotive, aero-space or other durable goods.
- A proven track record of delivering successful IT projects, operations and architectures is critical.
- Demonstrated financial and accounting acumen and functional budget management and reporting for budgets between $2.0-3.0M.
- A graduate degree would be viewed positively, but is not required.
- Prior experience managing a P&L or in a private equity environment is a plus.
- Experience in performing IT due diligence in support of acquisitions is a plus.
Technical considerations - Cisco Infrastructure Networking, Wireless environments with E-MAN capabilities. .

- ERP experience with Infoflo and/or Epicor knowledge as a plus.

Performance Measures The Director's job performance will be measured against the achievements that are strategically important to the business. Short- and long-term performance objectives will be determined established on an annual and quarterly basis. IT operational excellence is a basic expectation.
Director compensation will be tied to company performance, the demonstrated financial value of IT to the enterprise, as well as external/internal customer satisfaction goals.
