About the School of Information Technology

The School of Information Technology (SoIT) is a national leader in studying solutions and needs that connect people, information, and the technology of the time. The SoIT is home to Ohio's first Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Information Technology. In addition, it is home to Ohio's first ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. The SoIT has been growing at 20% annually and currently serves more than 2300 students with 32 full-time faculty members, 28 full-time staff, and 43 adjunct faculty. The SoIT is home to several centers including an NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, the Information Technology Solutions Center, the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence Center, the Smart Synergies Lab, and the Information Technology Analytics Center.

Job Overview

The School of Information Technology (SoIT) seeks to hire two Visiting Assistant Professors in one or two areas related to Information Technology including, in order of priority, Cybersecurity, IT Infrastructure, Human Computer Interaction, Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence, or Software Application Development. This is a one-year 9/12 faculty appointment for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters with a starting date of August 15, 2024.

A Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati is expected to teach with the possibility to collaborate on scholarly and other professional or creative activities. This position will support the University of Cincinnati’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all of our activities.

Essential Functions

Required Education

Must have obtained a Doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited college or university of recognized standing in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline prior to the effective date of appointment (ABD candidates will be considered).
