The selected candidate will become part of a group responsible for supporting steam plant and reactor plant fluid systems on OHIO, SEAWOLF, and VIRGINIA Class commissioned submarines, along with the S8G Prototype. The candidate will also support S5W and S6G Moored Training Ship (MTS) fluid systems, including the engineered safety feature (ESF) systems unique to the MTS program. This role offers a diverse range of work with varying durations, providing increased responsibilities and independence based on ability and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in initial system and/or component design, ship alteration upgrades, and life cycle supiport.
- Function as a project engineer overseeing all aspects of engineering tasks, ensuring overall technical quality.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment, maintaining schedules, being mindful of budgets, and collaborating with Design and other engineering organizations and disciplines.
- Evaluate and provide technical resolution to system and component related questions and problems from Naval Shipyards, Navy forces afloat, land-based prototypes, reactor plant prime contractors and NAVSEA engineering and program offices.
- Effectively communicate within the organization and with NAVSEA, prime contractors, Navy shipyards and equipment vendors.

Qualifications Required:
- Minimum of 12 years of US Navy submarine experience as a qualified nuclear plant operator with a mechanical background.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Engineering Watch Supervisor qualified.
- Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Casciano/Gabriel) .
Preferred:
- Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or higher.
- Experience working in a private or Naval shipyard.
- Nuclear Mechanical Division leading chief petty officer experience.
- Squadron Engineering experience.
