Logistics Engineer

Work Mode: Onsite

Opportunity

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and facilitating the predictable, flexible, and efficient flow of parts and materials through the entire Supply Chain process. You will also analyze the overall Supply Chain operations, conveyance, and intra-logistics strategy to maximize the process efficiency and productivity, development, and sustainment of a Plan for Every Part. As the Supply Chain and Material Flow Engineer you will also have the responsibility of designing, developing, and improving the Supply Chain material flow, end to end, as well as the full conveyance processes, layouts, and systems readiness.

Specific Responsibilities

-Design, develop, improve the supply chain material flow, including warehouse, intra-logistics, conveyance processes, layouts, and systems readiness for the new Casa Grande facility.

-Support day-to-day supply chain operations throughout the entire process by using the Bills of Materials (BOMs), demand requirements. and engineering specifications to facilitate the correct time, quantity, quality, and delivery of parts needed at each workstation and during each stage of assembly.

-Ensure deployment of best practices from other Kohler plants regarding material flow, warehouse, Kanban, supermarkets, conveyance, and line feeding activities.

-Develop and maintain the PFEP for all materials (finished goods, components & purchased parts).

-Analyze, define, design, and optimize routing for every part to minimize delays, disruption, and waste.

-Design, implement, and maintain the material flow within the facility by troubleshooting and preventing material shortages or bottlenecks by determining causes and designing, testing, validating, and implementing solutions through a Continuous Improvement and Lean approach.

-Ensure AGV (automated guided vehicle) routes are defined and work properly and efficiently.

-Ensure that parts delivered by suppliers meet design specifications before entering assembly process; implement procedures and/or tracking for addressing non-conforming materials/parts.

-Design supermarkets, Kanban, smart-buffers, and other advanced material storage or replenishment solutions for Lean material storage, put away, picking and kitting processes.

-Identify and improve cost/waste reduction opportunities through Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean approaches.

-Define the best internal and purchased components packaging design.

-Generate or adapt equipment and technology to serve user needs.

-Design areas, warehouses, layouts, drawings, and material flow models with techniques, tools, & CI principles.

-Implement 5S principles and visual management to improve material staging, flow, and delivery practices, including developing adjustments or improvements to storage, inventory facilities, equipment, and processes.

-Plan, organize, and lead the supply chain engineering design and material flow for the development of new products or product changes.

Skills/Requirements

-A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited engineering OR engineering technology program; Logistics, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.

-5+ years’ progressive experience in the Supply Chain/Logistics field.

-2+ years’ direct experience in Supply Chain engineering processes, including material flow, continuous improvement, and PFEP .

-Expertise in SAP for Logistics and Materials is required.

-Extensive knowledge of the practical application of engineering science, data science, and technology is required, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, data analysis, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

-A working knowledge of data analytics tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, and/or Microsoft Access is highly desired.

-Proven ability to design material routes, supermarket, min-max and other Lean manufacturing materials flow solution.

-A Continuous Improvement certification or background is necessary to be successful in this role.

-A working knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.

-Previous experience working on a greenfield manufacturing project is a plus.

-Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing, material flow, and distribution of goods.

The salary range for this position is $87,450 – $111,100. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
