The Role
This role requires the individual to work onsite in the AMS Cleveland Office 1 day a week (Tuesdays). We are looking for someone to support the AMS Americas Region benefits program. We are looking for someone that is very passionate about the well-being of our employees.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage and Administer employee benefits programs such as retirement plans, medical, dental, vision, life, disability, flexible spending and commuter for the Americas Region (U.S., Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and Brazil).
- Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
- Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
- Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
- Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.
- Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records.
- Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans. Allocate group health and dental claims monthly and reviews quarterly.
- Perform plan audits. Prepare, collect and organize data for actuarial assessments.
- Review data in conjunction with actuarial evaluation task forces.
- Monitor administrative costs of benefits programs and recommend cost containment strategies, including alternative methods for administration and funding.
- Prepare budgetary recommendations and assist in the monitoring, verifying and reconciling of budgeted funds.
- Provide customer service support to internal and external customers.
- Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package. Design and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
- Provide training and support to group benefits associates, home office associates and the field staff.
- Assure company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the Affordable Care Act.
- Supervise preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies.
- Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and report necessary or suggested changes to management.
- Coordinate company benefits with government-sponsored programs.
Skills and Experience
- 5 -10 years of experience in employee benefit administration
- Solid knowledge of U.S. Benefit Laws and Requirements
- Experience managing 3rd party benefit vendors.
- Basic knowledge and/or interest in International Benefits, preferred.
- Important are soft skills and the ability to be personal, provide support and empathy for AMS Americas employees.
