Position Summary/Description:
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Accountant is responsible for day-to-day financial and business operations matters associated with the School of Education. Primary responsibilities include budget and expenditure reconciliation, financial reporting, financial analysis and consultation, salary distribution management, and other related duties. Additionally, duties performed by this position include budget transfers, budget journals, fund swaps, Payroll Accounting Adjustment Tool ( PAAT ) actions, lump sum payments, complex journal entries, and source creations. This role may provide budget assistance, process tuition, fees, and award payments to students. The accountant will provide technical assistance and training to other employees onUniversity and School accounting systems, policies and procedures. This position reports to the Director of Finance andEducation and Experience:
Experience working at UNC or in higher education is preferred. A strong knowledge of the UNC Chapel Hill business accounting procedures and regulations on state, overhead, and trust accounts is preferred. The ideal candidate is proficient in PeopleSoft, Concur, and Tableau report.
