Job description
Somatus is seeking an experienced, strategic, and mission-driven Chief Financial Officer to direct and oversee all aspects of the finance and accounting functions of the organization. As a strategic thought partner and crucial executive leadership team member, the CFO will work closely with the CEO, senior leadership team, and Board of Directors to drive financial performance and ongoing transformation.
The CFO will lead key initiatives including:
- Partnering closely with operations, clinical, and technology to drive financial performance including launching new business lines/products.
- Building and leading a finance team, driving mergers and acquisitions and other corporate development opportunities.
- Implementing IPO readiness, enabling the company to successfully IPO.
- Focus on pricing, structuring, and delivering on risk-based contracts multi-$BN contracts to provide home-based care to populations with multiple coexisting diseases or conditions.
- Leverage significant high-level finance skills to design, develop, and lead the FP&A team and reporting process using financial analyses to tell the story behind the numbers to stakeholders.
- The CFO will seamlessly integrate finance with all clinical, operations, executive, and legal divisions to outperform financial expectations.
- In addition, this role will lead, build, and coach an exceptional delivery team of finance and accounting subject matter experts. The CFO role will inspire others with exemplary leadership, mentorship, enthusiasm, and passion for healthcare.
- Focus on overseeing financial modeling and delivery, commercial insight and analysis and establishing financial processes to support business strategy.
- Play an instrumental role in designing and implementing a cost-efficient financial strategy to ensure the company realizes its growth potential.
- The CFO will ensure the business will continue to grow aggressively by increasing customer base, geographical presence, and acquisition.
- Understand the company's evolving needs and assist in leading change efforts to pursue growth in new, less-developed markets and industry segments, providing guidance and advising stakeholders through acquisitions, implementations, and other varied projects.
Planning
- Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
- Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
- Develop financial and tax strategies
- Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
- Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
Operations
- Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management leadership team
- Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management leadership team
- Manage the accounting, investor relations, tax, and treasury functions
- Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies
- Manage any third parties to which accounting or finance functions have been outsourced
- Oversee the company's transaction processing systems
- Implement operational best practices
- Oversee employee benefit plans, with emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package
- Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions
Financial Information
- Develop and oversee the issuance of financial information
- Report financial results to the CEO/Board of Directors
- Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team on the development and oversight of risk-based business agreements.
Risk Management
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
- Construct and monitor reliable control systems
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
- Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
- Report risk issues to the CEO and audit committee of the Board of Directors
- Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
Funding
- Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
- Arrange for debt and equity financing
- Invest funds
- Invest pension funds
Third Parties
- Participate in conference calls with the investment community
- Maintain banking relationships
- Represent the company with investment bankers and investors
- Master's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company (Healthcare preferred) or division of a large corporation.
- Should have experience in partnering with an executive leadership team and have a high level of written and oral communication skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
