General Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Three years of related experience. Working knowledge of Sam Houston State University and University procedures would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Performs highly advanced and complex specialist duties for the Visitor Services office.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Hires, supervises, schedules, and trains SAMbassador team (approximately 20 students) and the Orientation Leader team (approximately 30 students.) Creates and enforces policies. Stays up-to-date on all related supervisory and hiring policies (Human Resources, Work Study, Payroll, Purchasing, Travel, etc.). Plans week-long training events multiple times a year in addition to continued training on a weekly basis. Builds and maintains relationships with campus partners to facilitate event planning and ongoing training for student staff. Responsible for tour experience planning and evaluation. Coordinates and supervises the Orientation Leader team during New Student Orientation and ensures that all policies are followed. Prepares and reviews reports on guest feedback and program effectiveness. Develops new programs and guest experience ideas to increase outreach to prospective students and visitors. Prepares and oversees program guidelines, procedures, policies, and rules, and ensures each is up-to-date and followed for both student teams. Prepares budget requests for travel, staff events, etc., as needed. Monitors project timelines and identifies issues. Responsible for maintaining office inventory and purchasing as related to student staff uniforms, equipment, and guest experience pieces. Assists with day-to-day operations of Visitor Services to include coordinating/scheduling tours and giving recruitment presentations. Promotes Visitor Services mission and vision of exceptional guest service and experiences in all programming, training, and event management. Provides staffing support for all Visitor Services initiatives, including specialty tours, recruitment events, and evening/weekend programming as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
