Job description

The ideal applicant should have understanding of mechanical engineering as it applies to HVAC building systems engineering (boiler, chiller, air handling, piping, ducting, controls) for a range of market sectors such as Education, Health Science, Telecommunications, Government, and Commercial.

Job Expectations:
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide consulting services for a variety of projects, ranging from feasibility studies and advanced planning to construction documentation, building close-out, and operation, assisting in the planning, design, and construction of technically better facilities. You will collaborate directly with owners to give technical advice and advise on assessments, feasibility studies, cost benefit analysis, and project planning. You will be in charge of completing HVAC designs for projects, creating reports and specifications, and demonstrating a high degree of technical expertise. The ideal applicant would support local and regional projects, be organized and responsive, and have great verbal and writing communication skills. The candidate must be able to operate in a multidisciplinary team setting and manage different projects with conflicting priorities.

Responsibilities may include:

• Preparing/directing the production of drawings and/or building information models for HVAC systems (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
• Conducting site surveys (e.g., existing conditions surveys, construction administration).
• Perform engineering tasks within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Prepare reports, building plans, specifications, calculations, equipment selection, and cost estimates for various projects, in addition to designing engineering systems.
• Data Collection, Analysis, and Documentation
• Performing engineering design calculations
• Preparing Building Energy Models and Life Cycle Cost Analysis.
• Coordinating Electrical Requirements for Selected Equipment
• Prepare research, permits, and alternative analyses.
• Assisting a project manager with the creation of project specifications

Desired skills and experience:

• Experience with HVAC systems essential.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
• P.E. is greatly recommended; nevertheless, outstanding individuals may take E.I. instead.
• Good written and vocal communication abilities are necessary.
• Proficiency with the most recent versions of AutoCAD and Revit
• 5 to 10 years of relevant expertise in engineering and consulting are required.
