Job Description
The Senior Communications Specialist coordinates and implements routine internal and external communication activities for the Company in a designated specialty function which is Health, Safety and Environmental services.
• Support the implementation of internal and external programs, procedures, and initiatives for the HSE department.
• Manage receipt, approvals and distribution of comments on communication content
• May oversee the daily activities of or assist in the training of lower-level communication employees
• Support the Company’s brand
• Track and report on all regional, specialty and/or functional metrics; prepare quarterly metrics reports and summarize key trends
• Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement with a focus on quality
• Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements
• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and seven (7) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to eleven (11) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Preferred Qualifications
• Accredited degree or global equivalent in marketing, journalism, public relations, or related discipline
• Typically has seven (7) years of experience in the communications field for an HSE department.
• Experience in the engineering, fabrication, procurement and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) marketplace is strongly recommended
• Knowledgeable of Company global communication procedures and programs
• Demonstrated ability to implement communication projects and ensure completion within established time frames; measure their success
• Sensitivity to diverse work force
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Extensive knowledge of online publishing tools
• Ability to work in a diverse environment and medium to complex organizational structures
• Ability to build relationships with all stakeholders and ensure credibility
Other Job Requirements
• US Citizenship required
• Contribute to and promote the use of Fluor’s knowledge management portals and communities
• Nuclear HSE experience.
