Job description
Title: Dental AssistantÂ
Location: Cheverly, MD
Duration: 3 Months
Shift: 8.00 AM - 4.30 PM
Dental Supervision: Onsite Dentist
Role Brief:
The incumbent will perform the following duties for all patients, regardless medical history, age, race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender:
- Provide oral hygiene instructions
- Rinses and aspirates the oral cavity, places and removes materials for isolation of the teeth and retracts the lips, cheek, tongue and flaps
- Takes oral photographs and radiographs
- Provides proper maintenance, and cleaning of dental equipment and dental operatories and sterilizes non-disposable dental instruments
- Observe proper OSHA infection control procedures
- Applies universal precaution standards
- Provides basic oral hygiene instructions
- Maintains and orders dental supplies
- Records and maintains patient medical histories and dental procedures using the electronic health/dental record
- Interview clinic patients to determine eligibility for income-based services
- Submits dental encounters in the proper format to payers including Ryan White
- Prepares treatment trays including instruments, medications, materials and the patient's record
- Schedules and confirms patient appointments, answers incoming inquiries, and greets patients
- Assists with meeting performance standards of grant-funded programs
- Assists with data collection for required reporting
- Assists with care coordination follow
Certifications: Unrestricted and active certification as a Dental Radiation Technologist issued by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners
