Job description
Job Summary:
The Accounting Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports to support management decision-making.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Support external audit and tax preparation processes.
- Assist in preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports, including state and federal tax reporting; and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Perform technical accounting research and provide recommendations for proper accounting treatment.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Mentor other accounting staff members and provide guidance on accounting principles and procedures.
- Assist in the implementation of accounting software systems and provide training to team members.
- Monitor, and assist with, accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
- Assist with accruals, and month-end and year-end closings.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Clear handwriting
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field Three to five years of related experience required.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time.
