Job description
The Chief Information Officer is a senior leadership role, responsible for managing information technology (IT) and digital strategies. The CIO plays a critical role in shaping the technology landscape and ensuring that IT systems and initiatives align with the overall business objectives.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Technology Strategy -- develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the organization's business objectives.
- IT Governance -- establish and enforce IT governance processes and policies to ensure the effective and secure use of technology resources.
- Digital Transformation -- lead digital transformation initiatives, including the adoption of digital tools, automation, and data-driven decision-making to drive business growth and competitiveness.
- Infrastructure Management -- oversee the management and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and data centers, to ensure high availability, scalability, and security.
- Information Security --develop and implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect the organization's sensitive data and intellectual property. Stay informed about evolving cyber threats and security best practices.
- IT Operations -- manage the day-to-day IT operations, including service delivery, help desk support, and vender management to ensure that IT services meet the needs of the organization.
- Budget Management -- develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective technology investments and resource allocation.
- Vender Management -- collaborate with technology venders and partners to negotiate contracts, evaluate vender performance, and leverage external expertise.
- Talent Development -- recruit, train, and retain a skilled IT team. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the IT department.
- Business Alignment -- work closely with other business units to understand their technology needs and provide solutions that achieve operational efficiency and support strategic goals.
- Risk Management -- identify and mitigate IT and cybersecurity risks. Develop and maintain a robust business continuity and disaster recovery plan.
- Reporting and Metrics -- provide regular reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to the executive team on IT performance, project status, and technology-related issues:
Education
• Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in senior IT leadership roles, including CIO or similar position – five years minimum.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and IT trends.
- Experience with IT project management and budget management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a high-performing IT team.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and compliance requirements.
