BEMA is seeking a highly motivated and strategic-minded Membership Manager to join our team. This pivotal role will be responsible for driving the growth and retention of our membership base, playing a key role in shaping the future trajectory of our association. The Membership Manager will have the unique opportunity to make a significant impact by implementing innovative sales and marketing strategies to attract new members, enhance engagement, and strengthen relationships within our community. BEMA is located in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, this position can be filled locally or remotely from anywhere in the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive membership acquisition and retention strategies to drive growth and engagement through proven sales performance skills.
- Identify and cultivate new leads and prospects through targeted outreach efforts and strategic partnerships.
- Create and uphold routine reports on membership metrics while managing archival records of membership history.
- Responsible for integrity of the membership database. Must be willing to learn association management software and maintain full accountability for accuracy of member records.
- Act as a primary point of contact for existing and prospective members, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Promote and administer service programs for members.
- Identify the need for new services and contribute to the development content, scope, and budget.
- Consult with BEMA leadership and Membership Value & Engagement Committee to execute objectives aligned with BEMA’s strategic plan.
- Manage and achieve sales targets for tri-annual international trade show, annual convention and B2B conference sponsored and hosted by the association.
Qualifications:
- 5 + years’ experience in membership development and sales, or related roles, preferably within a trade association or similar organization.
- Proficient and knowledgeable with tools like Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Outlook, and familiarity with membership database systems. Experience with MemberSuite a plus.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; excellent presentation skills.
- Persuasive communicator, exceptional interpersonal skills, and ability to foster member and vendor relationships.
- Accomplished organizational and project management skills; ability to initiate, plan, prioritize and oversee multiple projects successfully and meet frequent deadlines simultaneously.
- Must excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This person must have integrity and earn credibility with leaders, members, board members, vendors, and staff.
- Ability to think strategically, independently, proactively, and creatively.
- Results and deadline driven with strong ability to work independently.
- Ability to travel independently, both domestically and internationally, 30%-40%.
