FUNCTION: The Technology Center Specialist will serve as part of the Kroc Center Education Department. They will function in a team environment and be a role model to both youth and adults. They will invest in lives by developing a high level, technology based, educational ministry. In conjunction, they will keep as a priority, the educational nurturing of each individual, child or adult that they work with; promoting the Christian faith and values in keeping with the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

DUTIES: General • Displays character in alignment with the beliefs of The Salvation Army through words and actions.• Demonstrates an ability to interact and cultivate relationships with people of all ages.• Uses excellent written and oral communication skills to interact positively with parents/professional teachers and instructors/community school administration and staff/Kroc staff and guests.• Embraces personal growth and continuous self-improvement.• Exhibits an ability to adapt to change through flexibility and navigating a fluid work environment.• Demonstrates instructional leadership and professionalism.• Maintains confidentiality. Responsible for oversight of programs related to the Tech Center: • Will be the primary instructor for all classes offered in the Tech Center. Must be able to effectively teach to a wide range of ages and levels of experience.• In conjunction with the Education Department Manager, maintain relationships with other agencies and organizations in community to meet technology needs. Conduct or participate in workshops designed to promote the academic and technical growth of students, community members and partner schools.• Research, evaluate, and prepare recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, and materials for Tech Center programs. Select appropriate curricula and class structures for educational programs. Advise Tech Center staff in curriculum development, use of materials, and equipment.

• Keep abreast of new technologies and tools for teaching and learning. Submit proposals for new Tech updates to Education Department Manager.• Research and propose new programs, or recommend modifications to existing programs. Analyze educational needs to develop new programs or modify and improve existing programs.• Using Survey Monkey (or other online survey tools) routinely collect feedback from class attendees. Summarize results and present to Education Manager along with any recommended changes.• Prepare programs for technology education for end users ranging in skill set from the most basic exposure to advanced programs (to include, but not limited to, computer camps for children through young adults; vocational preparation; introduction to Microsoft Office and the internet; and more) Should be SME (Subject Matter Expert) on Microsoft Office products and Outlook so that you can assist in the development and delivery of internal staff training.• Maintain statistical data for all education related activities (i.e., number of student participants, volunteer hours, dedicated education activities, etc). Prepare reports and updates as required and submit to Business Manager and Education Department Manager.• Implements programs/software as directed.• Coordinate the setup and use of all Tech Center equipment requested by other departments and programs.• Coordinate program schedules, space use, and target audiences in conjunction with Education Department Manager. Responsible for administration related to the Tech Center: • Lead and oversee team of Tech Center staff members.• Establish work schedules and direct activities of Tech Center staff members. Select and assign instructors to conduct training. Provide feedback to Education Department Manager regarding effectiveness of programs, providing recommendations for improvement.• Recommend purchase of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and visual aids designed to meet student and community educational needs as instructed by Education Department Manager.• Implement program plans by ordering needed materials, scheduling speakers, reserving space, and handling other administrative details.• Monitor the equipment used in the Tech Center, if in need of repair, updating of software, maintenance, etc; consult with the Managers of IT and Education concerning the best way to proceed.• Maintain a complete and accurate inventory of all hardware and software under the responsibility of the Tech Center• Will assist with the Red Kettle and Holiday Assistance program during the months of November and December and campus wide activities and programs.• Organize information, material, and time effectively.• Build capacity of individual to effectively use and integrate computer technology.• Offers English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes designed to improve communication with speakers of the English language focused on listening, reading, speaking, and writing in partnership with Miami Valley Career Technology Center (or local agencies), local schools and the Ohio Department of Education.• Provides GED Preparation in partnership with Miami Valley Career Technology Center (or other agencies) and Ohio Department of Education to prepare adults to obtain their high school diploma equivalency.• Coordinates seniors programs related to Golden Hour but not limited to this.• Complete required written forms (Incidents reports, Keep safe, and others) for programs in coordination with Education manager. Summer Day Camp • Serves as the Assistant Director to the summer day camp ministry.• Assists in the planning of the daily schedule, camp curricula, and off-site learning field trips.• Contributes in the writing of weekly curriculum, discovery activities or special events.• Recruits volunteers and leaders to teach courses throughout summer camp.• Assists in training and supervision of camp counselors and campers.• Maintains accurate recordkeeping and completes required written forms.• Adheres to the America Camping Association accreditation standards for day camp excellence.• All other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Education Department Manager or Kroc Administrators.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Associates’ Degree in Education, Computers, or Related Field required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.2. Must have strong teaching skills3. Strong creative and communication skills4. Administrative skills5. Able to work in a team environment6. Strong computer skills as it relates to using technology to teach and instruct individuals7. Able to teach children and adults, individuals and groups
