Walt Disney Imagineering is the master planning, creative design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. Its experienced corps of Imagineers oversees the creation - from concept initiation through installation - of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects.
Story Development at Walt Disney Imagineering is the process of creating a story experience on the attraction, land, resort level, establishing themes, generating high concepts and creating written outlines, treatments, scripts in collaboration with project teams, with the ultimate objective to solve business problems and entertain and inspire the Disney Guest.
You will report to the Managing Story Editor.

Responsibilities:
The Story Editor is responsible for the generation of story ideas and story development through research, outline, treatment, final script, and documentation under the supervision of a senior member of the Story Development team
The Story Editor brainstorms within show teams, generates notes from writers room sessions in an organized and timely fashion, supports the story development team's interactive process, and—as requested—helps flesh out the story of a ride, environmental, and/or media based attraction
In addition to story, the Story Editor also develops nomenclature, sign copy for supporting show and operational graphics, operational spiels, safety and show dialogue, and assists with legal clearance and language translation as needed
The Story Editor supports company-wide internal and external communications
The Story Editor must be able to work effectively under tight deadlines, while maintaining individual creative integrity and communicating effectively
The Story Editor works independently on small projects of limited complexity, or as a participant on a team for larger scope—from concept to completion
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years in entertainment industry as a writer or writer's assistant (film, theater, television production, or other equivalent experience)
Disney Theme Park experience and/or solid understanding of the themed entertainment industry
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A solid understanding of story structure with ability to write strong dialogue, clear and concise copy, and descriptive prose.
Complete competency in Microsoft Word, Final Draft, and Keynote
Ability to research visual and written archival resources
Ability to receive constructive feedback and collaborate with team members
Strategic thinker
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in: Creative Writing, Playwriting, Screen Writing, Journalism, or Communications studies desired
Graduate level education in Creative Writing, Playwriting, Screen Writing, Journalism, or Communications preferred
Language fluency in written and colloquial Mandarin Chinese and/or Japanese, French, Cantonese, Spanish are a plus

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $92,742 to $124,410 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job tags
