Pa y: $21.33 - $24.26 hourly (*Pay range does not include (5) additional longevity steps beyond top of range.)

FTE: Full-time 40 hours during peak season (April-December) . Position is subject to seasonal layoff.

Schedule: Wednesday-Saturday Days; 10-hour shifts 7:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m.

Our Mission. The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) is committed to preventing pollution and protecting the environment, including the region's most precious resource - Lake Superior. WLSSD treats all municipal and industrial sewage in the Duluth-Cloquet area.

What We Do. Founded as a special purpose unit of government created by the Minnesota Legislature in 1971 to address serious environmental pollution problems in the lower St. Louis River Basin, WLSSD provides wastewater and solid waste services and oversight for a 530 square mile region around Duluth, Minnesota.

WLSSD is seeking a part-time, seasonal Gatekeeper to join our team at the Material Recovery Center in Duluth, MN. The qualified candidate will have a high school diploma, or equivalent and p ossess a minimum of one year of cashier or money handling experience. In addition, the qualified candidate must h ave a minimum of two years verifiable customer service experience.

What are some things you will be doing in this job?

• Greet and communicate with visitors at the Materials Recovery Center
• Assess visitors' items and communicate disposal/recycling instructions
• Collect payment and direct customers
• Identify reusable items for diversion
• Monitor customer activities
• Organize and maintain work areas
• Follow safe work practices
• Answer questions about WLSSD programs and refer customers to alternative disposal options
• Work outside and don't mind a little Duluth weather!

Drug testing policy: Under WLSSD's drug and alcohol testing policy, prospective employees will be asked to submit to drug testing. No prospective employee will be asked to submit to testing unless an offer of employment has been made. An offer of WLSSD however, is conditioned on the prospective employee testing negative for drugs and alcohol.
