Human Resources Specialist Location Grand Rapids, MI (Northeast Citizens Action area) : JobID: 22241 Position Type: District Support Date Posted: 3/5/2024 Location: Kent City Administration Office District: Kent City Community Schools Terms of Employment: Approximate Hours : 7:30am - 4:00pm (Monday through Friday). This position is Year-Round (12 Months) Approximate Salary : Commensurate with experience and qualifications Location : On-site - Kent City Administration Office - 200 N Clover St., Kent City, MI 49330 Reports to: Superintendent Job Duties Summary:
- Responsible for the District's insurance and benefits administration including open enrollment, employee cash-in-lieu and premium deductions, as well as processing of all insurance invoicing
- Process ACA and COBRA reporting and tracking through third party vendor services
- Manage new hire paperwork, background checks, and personnel recommendations for all employees and third party contractors
- Maintain current employee personnel files including updated certifications, seniority lists, credit tracking, licensing requirements and employment contracts
- Ensure District compliance via workplace posters, annual staff training, keeping the Employee Handbook up to date, etc.
- Responsible for tracking District Provided Professional Development as the SCECH Coordinator
- Compile and submit district data for the state required REP Report
- Serve as the District liaison with EduStaff for our substitute management including ensuring appropriate entry of absences and substitute assignments into the RedRover system.
- Administer and maintain District job postings and employee applications
- Responsible for creating and deleting all technology accounts and maintaining access for multiple systems utilized by staff
- Maintain information on District emergency procedures and process any district school closings
Education and Experience: - Prefer experience in a school business office or school-related environment
- High School Diploma required, Bachelors or Associates Degree preferred
- Computer skills including but not limited to proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Skills / Qualifications: - High level of phone, verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with administrators, peers, constituent district staff and public
- Ability to present a positive image for Kent City Community Schools and be a positive, supportive member of the administration team
- Ability to collaborate with administrators and other staff
- Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently as well as schedule and produce work in a timely manner
- Must be able to be discreet and keep information confidential
